TYA´s labour market tendency survey 2008 | TYA english
Lack of professional truck drivers
There is a high demand on the market for professional truck drivers. Almost
four out of ten road carriers predict an increased need for truck drivers
over the next year, but four out of ten companies also report that they have
trouble finding well-educated staff.
TYA’s labour market tendency survey 2008 is based on a questionnaire sent
to 1,100 road carriers (members of the Swedish Road Transport Employers’
Association, BA) within the fields of recruitment and education for the
period May 2007 to April 2008 and 12 months onwards. Relevant statistics
from the Swedish Public Employment Service, Statistics Sweden, and the
Swedish Road Administration have also been included in the survey.
This market tendency survey reflects the high demand for professional
truck drivers, despite the slower increase in demand this year. TYA will
continue its strive for more high-quality vocational training.
